One of Gage's favorite things is MONSTER TRUCKS! We had to go to the event at the RMR (Rocky Montain Raceway). There was also stock car racing that Gage thought was pretty cool.

Three-year-old Gage Lambert enjoys the Neola Rodeo over the Fourth of July weekend as part of his family's quest tackle the 101 Things to See & Do in the Uintah Basin challenge.

How are you doing with the 'See & Do' challenge?There’s a free rafting trip, a guided mountain biking tour, a family reunion fun package, and 21 other prizes that the Uintah Basin Standard would like to give away to anyone who has traveled around the Uintah Basin having fun this summer. However, there is some concern that no one will be ready to claim any of these prizes.The June 17 release of the Standard's 2008 See & Do Guide featured a list of 101 things that can be enjoyed locally. Anyone who can prove they’ve seen or done the greatest number of summertime activities on the list will win.

Desiree Lambert was the only person we could find who intends to collect a prize. Lambert, a mother of two and a recent transplant from the Wasatch Front, uses the See & Do Guide when she plans family activities.“We moved here a year and a half ago,” she said. “Everything is new to us. If I’m bored, I pull the book out and look. Last week we went to McConkie Ranch.”Lambert and her family have enjoyed seeing Moon Lake, Nine Mile Canyon, and plan to visit the sales barn in Ballard sometime this week.

All these things are on the list of a 101 things to see and do. Attending the Neola Kids’ Rodeo and UBIC was especially fun for Lambert, her husband, Lance, and their two children.“It’s been really handy,” Lambert said of the booklet that describes the various opportunities for entertainment.

Carrie Wallace has lived in the Basin a lot longer than Lambert and usually chooses to head out of town with her family for summer getaways.“We used to do a lot more in the Basin, but now that the kids are so busy we don’t do as much,” she said.Still the Wallace family is very involved in local events. Wallace's husband and all five of their children participated in the UBIC triathlon. They attend local events and enjoy the parks.“Those are good prizes,” Wallace said when told what she could win by documenting even the few things the family does locally. She also recognized that there might not be a lot of competition for the 25 giveaways, so she plans to include more of the things from the See & Do book in her next few outings.

The competition began June 17 and runs through Sept. 30. In order to count an activity, event or location toward the total, you must have completed it during the contest period.To win, you must provide documentation that shows you completed each activity. Acceptable forms of documentation include, but are not limited to, dated receipts, dated photographs of yourself at the location, or ticket stubs.

Where else can you win by having fun stargazing, going on a walk, eating hand-dipped cream, or watching birds at the Ouray National Wildlife Refuge? Visiting Josie’s Cabin in Dinosaur National Monument, mountain biking, or going fishing can also be added to the tally of things that will help earn fun prizes for your family. Having a picnic, adopting a highway, or going to the drive-in can be documented and help toward winning a free entry for two to the 2009 Walleye Classic at Starvation State Park.
